Hello again!!!

I had so many things going on at once that my blogging kinda ended up being put on the back-burner. I'd like to wish all americans out there a belated happy thanksgiving! I celebrated here too with some american
couchsurfers who were in town. We went out for drinks and had a great time!

This is me and my friend Mel having a killer time!

Saturday, I hung out with some friends, watched hockey and ate crêpes...mmm...crêpes!!!

Sunday was a big day! Mel and I took the bus and went to the National Arts Center in Ottawa to see Nefés by Pina Bausch. I have to say that it was one of the best shows I've seen...EVER! It's made me want to discover the world of modern dance. It was a great time, with wonderful dancers. I laughed, I cried, I got the hiccups during the standing ovation at the end of the show. If you ever get to see it, GO!!!!!! It was nice to go to Ottawa, I mean everyone always makes fun of our nations capital because it's quite boring, but actually, after walking around all day, I think it's a pretty neat city that should be given a bit more credit...

Other than that...well nothing much is going on, school is winding down which means that I'm writing endless papers. I'm also getting ahead on my holiday knitting. I have to say that I'm not feeling the regular festive cheer this year. I'm actually already a little annoyed. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the holidays. They make me soooo happy! But this year, it seems that everywhere I go, all the holiday stuff around me is all about the couples. It's all about being happy and in love. Maybe I'm just a little bitter, but come oN! I mean they could at least come up with one or two commercials about friends and family...sheesh!

In knitting news, well I'm knitting socks like a mad woman. First off, there's Montego Bay for my mom for Christmas. Then, there's the GORGEOUS november mystery sock by Mona, and I'm also knitting the Coupling socks as well as the Wyverns. All for me. Yes, that's right...all for ME! In a couple of weeks though I'll probably freak out and start knitting more gifts out of guilt...In the meantime, here's a pic of my most favorite socks up to date (rib and cable socks in Mountain Color Bearfoot), I'm not wearing them because...well you'll see...

He's actually lying on the other sock...cats...pffffffft!!!!

Happy knitting!

Overwhelmed

I'm taking a nano-knitting break. I haven't stopped knitting, I'm just not putting any pressure on myself. I've decided that while I am knitting Mona's GORGEOUS november mystery sock, I'm not going to pressure myself to knit them in super record time. I want to have fun knitting...That's the nice thing when knitting isn't your job, you can actually take your time to knit things!!!

:-D

In other news, I had a crazy weekend full of work and no rest at all. The only respite that I got was (please don't laugh) watching Riverdance (I asked you not to laugh!) in my PJ's sunday morning. It made me start going through my Ireland pics again and well...I'm making it official in announcing it...I'm leaving for a year in late april/early may to work/travel/live in Ireland and Great Britain. It's a 2 year visa but I'm only planning on leaving for a year. The good part though is that if I decide that I want to stay there an extra year, I can! This has been in the works for a few months now, it's all because I really need to just get away and clear my head and regain a bit of lucidity. So there...now, you all know!!

I feel like a have a trillion things to say...but they're just not coming out of my brain today...maybe tomorrow!

For the fallen

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.

Solemn the drums thrill: Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres.
There is a music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncountered:
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables at home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.

But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;

As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end they remain.

In which I tell you about my new musical obsession

I have a million things to say about knitting things and my bad knitting karma and the impending Holidays BUT, I just don't have the energy for that right now. Instead I leave you with my most recent musical obsession...MIKA!!!!!!! Now, this song is called Big Girls (you are beautiful) and it makes me laugh and smile and what not...This ties in with my new workout routine...strippin' classes!!!! Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!! Yes, it's true, I've caved and decided to follow the trend. It's actually quite fun and is making me develop some much-needed confidence in my festively plump figure.

*sigh* ok, next post, I introduce you to my most recent FO and my new WIP's as well as to my bad knitting mojo!

Happy knitting!!!
