Yes, I'm still alive

*sigh* The past long weekend has been a blur of stuff...it was the other K's birthday so we celebrated things the way they were supposed to be celebrated. When I say the weekend was a blur, it was mainly going out with friends and them getting hit on... hmm...no comments. I also got some reading done(fucking midterm #2!), some crafting (I have a swap on Craftster and for my SP) and alas, some sleeping. I'm still fighting off this messed up throat thing which SUCKS ASS! (pardon my french) To top it off, my dad was unwell this weekend which freaked the Hell out of me...Ever since his/my moms kidney transplant/swap thingy whenever one of them sneezes I freak out. It's not easy... He's better now, on morphine (lucky man, I had to be allergic to narcotics...DAMN!). So let's just put it this way, things have been chaotic (sorry Britney, I had to steal it) around my place and thank goodness for someone who's allowed me to hide out somewhere...(mright...)

Nothing new to report on the knitting front, working ona scarf, put down L&S, have a metro sock on dpns...

I got a package from my SP today! (I need to find a cam to post a pic of this stuff...) She sent me some decadent yarn that'll make you wish there was such a thing as touch-o-vision computer screens...

Oh the pain

Yesterday I went to the gym and took a boxing class. Today, I'm feeling the pain. OW! And as the good masochist that I am, I actually hit the gym again this afternoon to go do some cardio. What can I say, I'm a sucker for punishment! The silliest part is that I've sorta become addicted to going to the gym. I actually get some happiness from it.

In knitting news, I decided to start the front of L&S until I run out of yarn...tomorrow I'll **FINALLY** cast on for my Socktober socks. It counts if they're at least started in October right?!? I also want to get going on the Mobius cause the yarn I have is so pretty! (I need to borrow my siblings cam to post a pic). Anyhow...

Happy sigh of relief

I did it! I did it! I finished it! I finished it!! I finished the back of L&S!!!!!!!!! Woot!!!! Doing the happy dance!!!!

Okay, I'm over it...but since I finished the back, Serge has been using it as a pillow and sleeping like a brick. Hihi! The knitting companion likes yarn and now, so does the Serge...and he has taste, he likes the alpaca...go Serge!!!! Animals never cease to amaze me!

I don't know if I want to start one of the front pannels or make my Mobius just yet...hmmm...maybe I could also start on some socks since I actually need some of those...I don't know...*sigh* what to do, what to do?

I'll sleep on it!

Who'd've thunk it?

Secret pal started today and already I've been spoiled rotten! I received this pattern today from my SP! I'm all excited! I've actually already started on a package for my new SP (who coincidentally seems to have a cynicism that I can relate to! hihi!)

Other than that, it's midterm week number one of three for me, so I'm running like a chicken with no head (but who needs a head for the wednesday midterm exam...)

In knitting news, I'm not done with the back of L&S yet, but I will...eventually!

The I don't have much to say post...

The only thing I can say is: I started the armhole decreases on the back of the sweater! Hoo Aah! (I watched Scent of a Woman this morning...hehehe). I got a whole lot of knitting done at the knitting thing on the Plateau, it was great fun!

This is the I'm tired post...

Okay, SP9 is about to start and my hostess Jody added a little bonus questionnaire so here it goes:

1. Where is your favorite knitting spot?

In bed, watching a movie on my laptop, Serge nestled next to me purring

2. If you suddenly could never knit again (shudder) - what would you do instead?

I'd become a hard core beader, would make jewelry and more jewelry and more...You get it...

3. If you could travel anywhere in the world - where would you go and why?

This answer changes every week for me...But today, I'd go to Thaïland and Vietnam...Or maybe Brazil...Maybe back to Ireland...Maybe I'd go visit the Maritimes for the first time...I don't know!

4. When you were little - What did you want to do "when you grew up?" Are you doing it?

I wanted to be a doctor...I'm currently a theater student who's thinking about taking her MCAT's after her degree...How's that for fucking strange?

5. What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?

Hmmmm...Soy Good Vanilla ice cream...Tastes like pudding!

--

Alright, first, in knitting news, I'm done with the shaping section of the back of L&S, which is nice! Next fun step: armholes in a few inches...Yay! But this also means time to order some more yarn...Not fun...Watch I won't order any until the holidays are over...*sigh*

In other news, I'm totally on the verge of death, midterms are approaching faster than I'd like them to AND, silly me joined my student association and was elected to the "conseil exécutif" with an official position and all. (Don't want to talk about it more until all the info is up on the schools page...yay politics...!) Anyhow, we had our first meeting tonight, lasted like...5 hours. So I was at school from 9 to 10. Not fun. So now...The cat purrs and sleeps next to me...Time for me to hit the hay...Tomorrow...rehearsals. Ugh!

Here's where a conversation about Air Guinea leads...

Last wednesday, at the knitting thing, I spoke about a tasty-licious recipe for pound cake. Here it is:

Ingredients

1-½ cups (3 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
1 bar (8 ounces) cream cheese, room temperature
3 cups sugar
6 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons salt
Nonstick cooking spray

Preheat oven to 350°. With an electric mixer, beat butter and cream cheese until
smooth. Add sugar; beat until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla. With mixer on low, add flour and salt in two additions, beating until just combined.

Generously coat two 8-1/2 x 4-1/2 x 2-1/2 inch loaf pans (1-1/2 quarts each) with cooking spray; immediately pour in batter (pan will seem full). Tap pans on work surface to eliminate any large air bubbles.

Bake until golden and a toothpick inserted in the centers comes out almost clean, 60 to 75 minutes (if the tops begin to brown too quickly, tent with aluminum foil).

Cool 10 minutes in the pan. Turn out the cakes; cool completely, with top sides up, on a wire rack.

This recipe comes to you thanks to Martha and her zillion person staff at Everyday Food

Friday night post

Last post, I said that I was planning on knitting these on two circs for Socktoberfest BUT, in the end, I decided on these finally. They're much more...me...the only problem here though is that my circs need an upgrade. I'm thinking of investing in two pairs of Addis.

Other than that, I got my SP match, it starts on the 15th and, as per usual, I'm so excited! I also just joined a swap on Craftster. It's a Sex and the City swap...muhahahahahaha how much fun am I going to have with this one??? Hihihihihii!

I've also been working on L&S, especially since my favorite time to knit has come back. Yes ladies and germs, it's hockey season!!! My Habs lost their season opener (in a shootout...a format which I hate...) but they'll win tomorrow, for sure, they're playing Toronto...

So that's it for now!

Of socks and things

It's Socktoberfest! Although I am knitting L&S as much as I can, I need some bus/metro knitting. So thanks to this pattern that I'd received over the summer with some yummy Knit Picks sock yarn, I've learned how to do 2 socks on 2 circs. Muhahahaha! Talk about killing 2 birds with one stone! I'll be knitting this pattern since last time I only practiced making just plain stockinette socks and then, like the fool that I am, I frogged the whole thing. I think I can do this! On top of it all, the sock yarn is to die for! Such soft goodness! *sigh*

Off to L&S I go before school!

OMG I'm such a girl!

Hmkay...I've been laying low recently due to some personnal girly stuff which has allowed me to catch up on some reading and some knitting. Fall has really hit here and it's pretty crappy. It's not as though it were weather you can go and walk around in, it's just raining and is downright crappola. Anyhow. I've been working on Lift & Seperate, and I should post a progress pic cause it's going to be a really nice cardi. I hope I can have it done by the holidays. Speaking of my favorite time of year (which is ironic cause I hate the winter), I've made my Christmas list of knitting already. I'm keeping it simple, but I have quite a bit of knitting to do...Anyhow, let's not get ahead of ourselves now...

I've been working out, i'm happy! I did an aquafitness class which was funnier than anything and lots of cardio. Tomorrow I'll be going to try a boxing class. I'm a little scared, but it'll be fine I'm sure. As long as I don't get punched in the nose... Anyhow, I'm gonna go do a couple of L&S rows before I go hit the hay...back to school tomorrow!

Here's what Serge had to say...

Stop typing and rub my belly please!
