Acupuncture

I tried something new yesterday, I had acupuncture done. About three years ago I injured my shoulder and developped bad bursitis. It hurts and the only way to decreibe it is to say that it feels like your shoulder is going to pop out of it's socket everytime you make a lateral arm mouvement (like pretending to be a chicken flapping it 's wings...). So I went to see an acupuncture-ist (?) and he stuck some needles in me. I'll definetly admit that I was a little unsure about if this would work, but man, talk about walking out of somewhere and feeling like I was on a cloud! My Dr is a super sweetie (he's my new surrogate chineese grandpa, or so he says) and he said that after maybe 8 or 9 sessions I should never be bothered by my shoulder again! Yaaaaaaayyyyy!! I'm so happy considering when I had gone to the hospital for said shoulder they gave me codeine (I'm allergic to most narcotics) and then they wanted to give me a cortizone injection (ick!). I just thought I'd share with the world that I'm now convinced that alternative medicines can work and quite well at that! That and I have no knitting news...hehe!

Thank you's

I just wanted to say thanks to all of youz for all the love that's being sent out my way. Breaking up is hard but it's little things and gestures that help to get over it slowly yet surely!

Now that I've taken my Oprah hat off...let's get down to the knitting! I'm on repeat 6 of Kiri (I actually have a progress pic but Blogger is mean to me today) and it looks super nice. The only thing is that I think i'm going to have to do close to 20 repeats to get anything bigger than a hankie out of this yarn...so...yet another KAL I can't finish on time. Man do I suck... On top of this, there's a KAL on the sistah friends blog and I was thinking that it's my chance to do the Wobbly Tote from IK...Mgnan! What to do...Don't answer that...I know i'll cast-on for the bag but you know what, I haven't done the ice cream and crying thing so I'm allowing myself to buy yarn and start projects I'll never finish...(it makes sense to me...) The perfect swatch headband is going quite well and looks nice as pie as for the subway sock, it's almost done. Yay!

Happy knitting!

Coming clean

Thank you all so much for the nice compliments about Serge, the sock and stitch marker! Said sock now has a heel and some foot-nes. I'm hoping to have a sock soon so that I can change my sock counter in my sidebar finally. I've been pretty slow in the Kiri shawl even though I know I'll never be done in time for the end of the World Cup. Meh...Oh well! I was happy to see that my SP received her first package safe and sound cause I sent her a jar of something and if it had broken, it would NOT have been funny!

In other news, I moved this weekend...yep, Serge and I packed our stuff and moved back in with my parents. The man and I have parted ways - quite amicably actually - so...I'm going to stay here for a little while so that I can, first, get over this, and then start saving up for my trip this summer and hopefully a 3 month trip next summer. I'll probably move out again at the end of summer 2007 (wow that feels far...) The essential is that I'm doing good and so is Serge and I think the man is too...I guess it happens to everyone and that this probably won't be my last breakup ever...but meh...I just need that one good night of wallowing with ice cream bad movies and crying a little and pyjamas and my girlfriends and I'll be back to my old self...Anyways...now you know!

Happy knitting!

A pic or two...

I finally got a couple of pics taken of something knitting related...Behold:

my bus and metro sock! Funny how I joined Project Spectrum today and that this sock (even though there's a lot of brown-ish colors) is mostly blue. And that Kiri is also blue...hmmm...I also had a skein of Fleece Artist Merino yarn that I'm turning into the perfect swatch headband/scarf. I'm doing it on 3.75mm needles. I know it's a lot on the needles, but I'm turning to yarn cause this month is a serious bitch...you'll find out more soon enough, I think I'm just not ready to write about it yet.

Anyhow...

In other crafty news (I'm completely addicted to Craftster.org these days) I made some stitch markers. here's what one looks like:

Obviously you can't see it very well which is okay cause I'm sending my Secret Pal as well as my SSFE pal (from Sistah Friend Knits) some... So now, I know that next time Robyn has a Stitch marker swap I can join in on the fun :-)

Neglected...

Serge has been neglected on the blog and he kept annoying me to get his pic out there for the world to see how dashing he is... The only problem is that as soon as a camera comes near him, he runs around and is basically impossible to photograph... Silly kitty! So yet again, here's a pic of Serge (who's doubled his weight in a month, from 2 to 4 pounds!!!!!)

This is him, in all of his splendor...SLEEPING! But really, I have to say, there's something about a kitten who sighs while he sleeps with his little paws crossed. He actually purrs while he sleeps. He also farts (he IS a boy...) but I digress... This is my baby in lala-land, chasing mice and feet...I'm so proud...

Happy knitting!

Reading my way through the summer...

I was inspired reading Wendy's blog, I'm going to chronicle my reading in my blog as well. This summer, my reading list has only 3 books.

Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

I've never read it, and am quite surprised that I'm reading it in english since Russian is apparently better tanslated in french than in English.

next is The Forsythe Saga, there's somthing about the Brittish family dynasties...I don't know...it just seems really good :-)

and finally, last but not least, I'm re-reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince just because it was so fucking good. Now I just have to find a way to read and knit at the same time...

So...yes...well I'm 200 pages into Anna Karenina and it's wicked, very...Russian, kind of dark, cold and full of people who's names I have way too much fun saying outloud while I read...

Happy reading to you all!

I don't like expansion teams winning the Stanley Cup

I'm a sports nut. I've loved sports since I was a kid. I was good at martial arts...but that's about it. My huuuuuge passion though is hockey. It's a beautiful game! But tonight I was sooooo sad to see the Carolina Hurricanes beat out the Edmonton Oilers (my 2nd fav team after the CANADIANS!) in game seven of a seven game series. It was heart crushing. Such a good team...beat out by expansioners... I won't get into why this bothers me...but let's just say that I maintain that the Oilers deserve to win (even though they played ONE period of hockey tonight) and the 'Canes...well...they have a great team but...you know...just...any team that needs cheerleaders at the arena and where people seem to have no understanding of what's going on on the ice...i don't know....maybe i'm a hockey snob...

In honor of my defeated team:

Hold your heads high and DON'T trade Ryan Smyth (unless it's to my Habs)

Closure and knitting

The funeral was saturday. I have to say that if everything happens for a reason, we could see it in front of the church. NDG church is not a huge on, but it was rather impressive to see that it was packed full with quite a few people standing at the back. The service was beautiful and moving. Not too religious (which is nice)but just enough to provide closure to most of us. But I think that the incredible part of this event was the fact that it turned into a high school reunion. I finished high school 5 years ago and buddha knows that the 5 years of high school felt and were a whole other lifetime for many of us. It was so strange for the old gang to be together again, just making fun of the same people (nicely, of course), laughing, flirting, being silly... I had forgotten how cool some of those people were. Why I said that it's possible that everything happens for a reason is that we all decided to stay in touch this time. To make it such that we don't end up only seeing each other at funerals. I think there may have even been a group hug involved (I know, we're über-cheezy). The whole of saturday was able to provide some closure for many of us and now, we can do our best to support the family through the tough times ahead.

Now, on the knitting front, I've picked the needles back up and worked a little on Kiri. I can't wait to post a pic of this shawl, it fucking gorgeous. I'm flipping out a little because the pattern doesn't give a gauge, so I'm using laceweight yarn on 3.00mm circs. I'm starting to wonder if I should've gone onto bigger needles... The patter calls for Rowan KSH on 4.5mm needles and KSH is a little bulkier than what I'm using...Meh...regardless...I've also restarted a sock-on-the-bus project. I'd stopped knitting in the bus for a little while. This morning, I pulled out my sock and was pleased to see that a sock I started friday was growing at an impressive pace. Anywho... Hopefully one day I can get some pics up but this week'll be hectic. I'll detail later on in yet another post full of icky personal details...

Happy knitting!

Feeling a little better

Hello again, I'm a little les angry with the gods today and I really want to thank all of youz for the nice wishes. The service will be on saturday morning and till then, I'm going to go hide up north just to try to make peace with the world. Don't take anyone for granted people, we remember how much we love people when they're not with s anymore...

Much love to all of you!

Angry with the Gods...

A really really good friend of mine lost her little sister yesterday morning...I don't know how a beautiful, highly intelligent, fun 20 year old girl can be killed by accident...This is such a typical Montreal thing, she was biking (with helmet, she was always safe) and the bike slipped in a pothole, an 18 wheeler ran over her spine and neck...they say she didn't feel anything and possibly never even saw the truck coming. The driver is in massive shock since he didn't see her on the ground. It's not his fault, it's not her fault, I blame the city and it's fucking slow process to fill huge ass potholes. I went to see the family as soon as I heard, can you imagine the face of a mother who's child has just been killed? This is something I hope none of you ever see...EVER!!

Ugh, I'm to depressed to type anymore...

Time to play catch up

Okay! I don't know where to start, the past week has been long and full of stuff that's too boring or that just isn't pertinent enough to write about in my blog. I got the cold to end all colds, but that's gone now (yay!). I still haven't blocked the streaker shrug, I'm also trying to figure out how to seam the body. I found a crochet seaming that i tried on a little piece of the sleeve and it seemed to work...but I still don't know.

Just as the world cup started, I started the Kiri shawl wich is SO fucking nice, and the AmiAmi yarn is so soft! *sigh* I really like the way the pattern is comming out, I should take pics...

I made a wickedly amazing leek-pumpkin soup over the weekend. Yeah I know...soup in June? But the weather was über shitty (rain). I took a pic of it, since I love me some good food porn. I'll post them later along with the recepie for those interested.

Happy knitting!

Sicky McSick Sick

Man oh man, you know it's bad when you don't even want to knit. I feel like my throat is constricting and I'm having issues breathing. Could I have the flu? No, of course not! What do I have? LARYNGITIS tabarnac! AGAIN! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully I can leave work soon (why am I at work before 8, don't ask, it's a bad story with lots of swearing) so that I can rest and maybe make it for the knitting thing tonight.

By the way, Serge is boucing off the walls...he's a strange kitten but man is he cute!

Happy knitting!

Just another manic monday

I hate mondays, that's the Garfield in me talking...Today started off sucking but it's slowly getting better. I got played against one of my co-workers which pisses me off sooooooo bad. I'm glad he told me about it because I may be a bitch, but I enjoy telling people what I think of them to their faces and not to others. Grrr... Anyhow, it's a gorgeous day in Montreal, perfect for park knitting which I'm going to do with The Man when I get home later. I'm still trying to make up my mind for the Knitting World Cup, but after seeing Caroline's Kiri in AmiAmi, I'm thinking that I may pull out my blue laceweight AmiAmi and copy her (muahahaha! please go see hers, it's sooo fucking pretty!) So yeah! My mom's going to Morrocco today (*sigh* again!) but no yarn shopping this time :-( The streaker shrug is finished, I just need to block it which is something I've never done before so I'm a little scared, how does one block wool without it felting (that would so NOT be funny...well...maybe a little...)?

Happy knitting!

Still trying to decide...

I'm still trying to decide what to make for the World Cup. Karine's post about dyeing may have inspired me to do some Brazil colored sock yarn dyeing. I could include it in my month long process. I'm going to to scour the web to look for some info on Kool-Aid dyeing for sock yarn. Once that's done, maybe I'll pull a Jaywalker...I don't know, I just want to make something that I'll finish in time and that'll allow me to have fun knitting. Ugh...What to do? Other wise, I was thinking of making 2 pairs of hand dyed socks one with a green body and yellow toes and heel and the other yellow with green toes and heels. Grr... I hate it when it gets confusing, I tend to go all cross-eyed and stuff... What to do? What to do?
