Day 31

I couldn't think of a nifty title to put in so...yeah. The knitting passion is coming back :-) huzzah! I think I'm going to have to start writting down all the things I want to make because ideas are rushing to me left right and center. I think that for right now, I'm just going to finish the WIP's i have going on and then...boom baby! I'm off making more stuff!

I bought myself an early birthday gift last night and surprisingly, it's not at all knitting related. I bought this book because I fell on this site a little while back and fell in love. It's really fun and there are some kick ass ideas for this summer. I'm trying to pump myself up over gardening because I need an outlet so that I don't burn out this summer like I did last year. It was not pretty and I never want to feel like that again...

So that's that...Happy knitting!

Wednesday, March 29, 2006

Already on day 29!

Damn, time flies when you're...going crazy cause of school! I've been away due to so many things and at the same time, nothing at all...I think that the weather has made me loopy cause I looooooooooooooooooove spring. I'm still not smoking and still not having any urges to...Brava me!!!! I'm starting to think about plans for my vacation time which will be at the end of august but since everytime I talk about travel plans they never happen, I'm keeping this one on the DL (down-low...don't forget i'm black...hehehehhe) yo! Let me just say this, if this falls through, there will be a lot of happy-sexy goodness in my yarn stash...

On the knitting front...nothing is new, I haven't had much time to knit except in the metro in which I'm working on a sock. The felted laptop bag I was working on is of no more use since I went birthday shopping for myself with my mom (she doesn't think I like surprises anymore) and I got a GORGEOUS purse/laptop bag from Cuir Danier...let me just say that I now need to adjust my wardrobe to go with my sexy bag. Since she insists that I unwrap this gift that I chose, I can't show you any pics but trust me...there is one week left til my big day and believe you me, there will be pics of this bag in all of it's glory...hehehe...

I was reading through my blogging past and realised that I used to write about music that I was stuck on...I'm going to start that again....now.

Current musical obsession: The soundtrack to Le peuple migrateur (yes the bird movie), it's gorgeous music with Nick Cave's voice and a lot of gypsy voices (which I love). This is perfect music for studying or knitting and oh yeah...KNITTING!

Later!

PS - Jennifer, I knew you looked familiar! We were totally separated at birth!

Bored on day 23

I don't know why, everything is boring me today for some reason...knitting, life, food, beer...I must be dying...Nah, it's just a crap phase...I'll update when I feel better.

Happy Knitting

Hungry on day 22

It's pretty bad the hunger thing. I've managed not to gain any weight for the past 22 days but all of a sudden, I feel like I'm compensating hunger wise. Well maybe i'm over-dramatising, but what the hell...It's my blog and I'll be a drama queen if i want too! So yeah! It could also be the since I've been hung over, I haven't been able to eat much...oh well.

Nothing going on on the knitting front today...must order some Brown Sheep soon...

Happy knitting!

Tuesday, March 21, 2006

I'm sure I have some sort of attention span issue...

I was happily knitting along on the Treillis Lace Shwal from Interweave and all of a sudden, in the middle of trying to k7tog, I needed some quick instant gratification so...I grabbed some of the Brown Sheep Bulky the Miss D. had brought back from the US for me as well as SnB Nation and started working away on the felted laptop bag. There you go! I have the bottom made now, idiot me haddn't thought of the fact that I only have 2 of like...5 colors needed...BRAVO! (slow and sarcastic clapping) Why am I so determined to make projects that I don't have enough yarn to make? Oh well...off to order some Brown Sheep I go...woohoo...!

Happy Knitting!

Interesting...

I got this through a group on Yahoo! I think it's beautifully written and deserves to be read by as many knitters as possible. Today, I'm knitting for peace.

Happy knitting...peaceful knitting!

Spoiled on day 21

I was spoiled by my SP, she sent me a gift certificate to the Elann web store. Oh the joy! She's contributed to my purchase of a ball winder...huzzah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Monday, March 20, 2006

St-Patricks day was fun on day 19 but not on day 20

I'm sure that from the title of this post, you'll know that I was very Irish on sunday during the parade and afterwards at Cheers (where, quite a few people now know my name - enter timeless theme music here). We made some new friends at the bar, including some sweet army guys from Boston (or should I say Baaaaaaaaaaston) who kept our glasses full all night. Needless to say that this morning I woke up with a drum playing on my brain. It wouldn't have been as bad if I hadn't had a class this morning. Let's just say that an acting class on a severe hangover...bad combo...lol!

On the knitting front, for the parade, I finished the Cash Iroha hat, it's sooooooo soft and warm! I'll take a pic soon and put it with the FO's...That's about it...well I'm off to bed...

Happy knitting!

Lots of things to say on day 17

My parents are back from Morocco...it seems that they had an awesome time there, very welcoming people there, lots of camels, lots of YARN!!!!!!!!!! My mom bought me 2 KILOS of yarn...muahahahahahha! Oh the pleasure! Half is a natural color, ready to be dyed, the other half is a beautiful lavender purple. It's spun with 3 strands so I wonder if that's how I have to knit it...I'll swatch it and we'll see what happens. I love it, once done, I can say it's the Marrakesh sweater! She also brought me back a beautiful hand crafted silver tea kettle and some gorgeous clothes. I shit you not, the ladies of Morroco know their shit. It's all about thin cotton and silk blends and all that for cheap! I think it's going to turn into the ideal vacation destination for me...

On a whole other note, I joined in on the mans writting blog...there's still some finagling to be done when it comes to how it's going to work, but it's a cool concept. Drop by and say "yo!" to the Thothian blog.

Back to knitting, I'm almost done with the foot of the first Jaywalker, should be done with it by tomorrow so that I can put up a pic.

Oh yeah! I went to see Greg Morton last night at the Comedy Nest. This man is the shizzle (hehe!). By the end of the show, I was crying and in severe abdominal pain from laughing. He's that good. I try not to advertise on my blog but please, for the sake of the funny part of you, check him out if you can!

Whew, that's all I could come up with, if there's anymore, I'll be back tomorrow!!!!!

Happy knitting!

St-Patties greetings to you!

Here's to you and yours
To mine and ours
And if mine and ours
Ever come accross to you and yours
I hope you and yours will do
As much as for mine and ours
As mine and ours have done
For you and yours

Temporarily out of action until day 16

I'm back, I have to say, I managed to post everyday for 14 days...shit I'm good! Lol! Still not smoking...not craving it at all! I'm at the foot section of the first Jaywalker. I have to say that these socks kick some ass, the pattern was easy to memorize and the socks just appeared on the needles. Let's put it this way, they're great for the confidence! I think I'll have to move on to another pattern for socks after this pair...I'm thinking the Embossed Leaf Socks...but for that, I have to find the perfect yarn in a fun and fantabulous (the gay man inside me is coming out!) color...Hmmm....To be discussed later.

Now I'm off to go pick up my mom who's been in Morocco for the past 5 weeks and who brought me back some yarn...mmmmm....

Happy Knitting!

Strep throat sucks on day 14

This is how I feel...I think the only good thing is that I got an hour of Jaywalker knitting done at the CLSC while I waited for them to tell me that (and I quote)"Ew...that's bad...". So there you go, plus, now there will be no beer for 10 days due to penicillin intake *peanut gallery: "boooooooooooooo"* So, on day 24, there will be some rejoicing with the downing of beer....mmmmm...plus I'll have to make up for St-Patties day (yes, even the african girl feels a bit Irish on March 17th...). Oh the fun I'll have...muahahahahahaha!

Off I go to take a pic of the Jaywalkers for all of you to see how pretty they are!

Happy Knitting!

I can't say it better than Garfield on day 13

I hate today, feel like I've been hit by a bus, can't even come up with the strength to knit...it's pretty bad...

Happy knitting

I like what this says about me...

Your Element is Fire

Your power color: red

Your energy: hot

Your season: spring

Like a fire, you are full of power and light.
A born leader, you easily draw people toward you.
You are full of courage and usually up for anything dangerous.
You have a huge ego and love to be the center of attention.

Knitting on day 12

It wasn't a beautiful day in Montreal today...oh well! I had a great day anyhow thanks to the knitting thing downtown! It was fun and there were a lot of people...I should really drag my butt out more often to get to meet the sunday crowd as well... I cast on for the Jaywalkers by Grumperina in a beautiful variegated Regia 4 ply. I loooove how the pattern is coming out! So yeah... that's about all that's going on here...I don't like sundays, it sucks to think that I have to go back to smelly school tomorrow morning...blech...

Happy knitting!

Food porn!

I made some cookies....yummy yum yum! Oh by the way, there is a new FO pic, and no...it's not The Clap...not yet!

Happy knitting

Movie watching on Day 11

This morning, I was happily surprised to see that there were some kick-ass movies on TV...It all started with Dirty Dancing followed by the ever pleasant Stand By Me and of course, my fav, The Breakfast Club. On top of that, it's a beautiful day, I even put my chair out on the balconny and sat out in a sweater to read a bit earlier. I finished the green socks, baked some cookies, started my Jaywalkers...damn, it's a productive day in my apt!

Happy Knitting!

IKEA commercials are funny on day 10

I love IKEA commercials, especially the new one where the guy sings with his hardcore swedish accent...It's just excellent! I'm doing good today but I'm oh so congested...boooooo...Well, off I go to relax my hair so that I can look civilized again...yay...

Happy Knitting!

It's going good day 9

Pancakes yesterday were über-nummy goodness...I enjoyed all 3 of them, then, I was stuffed...I made up for it by making some cookie dough that will turn into cookies later on tonight...yummy...chocolate chips...drool! Other than that, there isn't much going on, I'm working on the second green sock...after that, I'll be turning some Regia into Jaywalkers :-) I'll post pics of the Clap later!

Happy Knitting!

Wednesday, March 08, 2006

On day 8, it's beginning to smell like spring...

8 days...yaaaaaaaaay me! I even went to a bar last night and didn't once have the urge to smoke...woohoo! Today, I'm knitting my green socks and hopefully going to finish my Cash Iroha tuque so that I can wear it before it gets too warm...I have pics to post a bit later of the Clap...woohoo!

Time for breakfast! (Day 8 deserves pancakes I think...muahahahahhahahaha!)

Happy knitting!

Surviving on day 7

I feel like a truck ran over me...this is quite the unpleasant feeling as i'm sure you can imagine. Anyhow, I've delayed posting the pic of the Clap cause I sorta forgot that I still have to unravel all the dropped stitches...hehehe... So that's that. Last night I swatched some of the yarn I got in Vermont. It's a pound and a half of coral green falkland wool. About 1500 yards. It'll trun into the Hourglass sweater if I can get the gauge right. So far, it's 24 sts per 4 inches on #4.5 needles. I'm going to try on #5's see what happens. I'll try to post a pic of the swatch cause this stuff knits up soooooooo sexy :-) So back to work I go!

Happy knitting!

Early morning post - Day 6

I finished the Clap last night...It's really finished...*doing the happy dance* I've quit smoking, produced one FO, this past week has been good! Sadly, today I go back to school...*Marche funeste playing in the background* You don't realize how freakin' tired you are until you take a week and sleep and knit through it. I will miss my lazy morning posts, but life goes on.

On with the show!

Sunday, March 05, 2006

Yaaaaay it's the OSCARS!!!!!

I'm such a sucker for the Oscars, I gave myself a timeframe when I turned 20 that I had 15 years to get to the Oscars (even if i'm cleaning the bathrooms). So, I'm down to 13 years to go. So now i'm gonna go watch them and finish the Clap!

Happy Oscar Knitting!

I knew it...Day 5

You Are Miss Piggy

A total princess and diva, you're totally in charge - even if people don't know it.
You want to be loved, adored, and worshiped. And you won't settle for anything less.
You're going to be a total star, and you won't let any of the "little people" get in your way.
Just remember, piggy, never eat more than you can lift!

Sometimes, you know what the results of a quiz will be without even doing the thing but what the hell...

Didn't finish the Clap yesterday but I'm almost finished with section 4, maybe 2 or 3 more repeats and i'm off to finish it...huzzah! Still haven't given in to my cravings, I'm doing good, the only thing is that I'm so fucking hungry that I don't want to quit and look like a blimp...I know I'm repeating myself, but I'm getting more and more concerned. Anyhoo! I'm off for some brekfast (yaay!) and the some Clap knitting. (By the by, I think that making The Clap inter/bi racial has given it a little je ne sais quoi! So much so that I think I'll rename it The K-Lap...ok maybe not...)

Happy Knitting!

I am a champion...day 4

i don't know how I do it, but sometimes, I am a real champion! I went to a big fat party last night and didn't smoke at all, and there was a lot of drinking involved, I mean a shit load...anyhow...I don't think I want to think about beer for a few days...I'm watching My Cousin Vinny, and I have to say that I can't knit straight cause it's soooo bloody funny. It's the scene where the other prosecuter who stutters is making his opening statement. The expressions on the jury's face is hillarious. I think this movie kicks some major funny movie ass! I'm also watching Learn to Knit on PBS, it's pretty cool! Hihhi....Youts...I'm sorry, I need a nap. I think I may be done with the Clap today, it's my goal...after the nap to get the drum solo being played on my brain out...

Happy Knitting!

Friday, March 03, 2006

oh yeah...

I may want to explain what I mean by the fact that the Clap is biracial...lol! I've been knitting it in Inca Gold Baby Alpaca natural color since the beginning BUT, for the final decreases, I've decided to make it black just to add some pizzaz. As soon as it's completed, I'm posting pics!

Ciao!

Interracial knitting... Day 3

The Clap has gone bi-racial! Well, that's a good thing because it means that it's almost done. I've been forseeing that as soon as I bind it off it's going to be beautiful outside...not cool... Anyhow, so that's that, I'm on the decrease rows (finally) and should be done soon cause I'm tired of seeing it not around my neck. So thats that! I've been looking at a lot of patterns lately, I want to make soooo many things, must figure out a way of knitting all items desired and find way to fund said knitting addiction...I don't have much more to say, I'm craving cake, I blame it on quitting smoking (muahaha). So take it easy!

Happy Knitting!

Thursday, March 02, 2006

You are

Grumble grumble...Day 2

I'm proud of myself, I didn't smoke at all yesterday. I wanted to though... Plus now I'm starting a cold which if you think about it is a good thing since who wants to have a cigarette whilst congested... But I think the downside to stopping smoking is that I'm sooooooo hungry all the time and it's not like I want carrots or grapes, it's total cake-mania here! I'm trying to compensate by drinking water. I don't want to gain the few pounds I've lost lately all over again...But it's okay, I'm just going to have some oatmeal for breakfast and take it one minute at a time :-)

On the knitting front, I've been going nuts on the Platypus, also affectionately named The Clap (lol), I want to finish it and wear it before summer comes back (which we all know will happen as soon as I bind-off said scarf...). I'm also working on the Cash Iroha hat, it's so damn soft! So yeah, I think I'll go do that for now!

Happy Knitting!

Thanks ~Jo~ for the quitting smoking encouragement!

Cigarettes and food and stuff...

Today is a big day...I've quit smoking. I know it's not a big deal but i'm making small goal i.e.get through one day at a time. I'm doing this through the Défi Tabac which is 6 weeks of no smoking. Just like with every addiction overcoming thing (like AA or NA), I have a sponsor: The Man...He's so good to do this, he'll have to encourage me AND deal with the effects of quitting all the time. So today is day one. I'm thinking that I can do this...go me!

Last night, my sister called me, which is super cooll already ;-) and told me that she had make some chicken pot pie for me and The Man...I love my sister! I almost want to put a pic of this tasty goodness on the blog to show you all how sweet she is. First off, it's HUGE! and then, the best part, it's full of cheese, mashed potatoes, veg, and of course chicken. I'll be sending some tastiness her way in the form of pumpkin leek soup. That I'll post about because of the color, the most beautiful orange, I'd love to dye yarn in it...

I also went to the National Library yesterday, got 3 knitting books about basic stuff, I kinda want to get good at all facets of knitting so I'm going to try and make some basic things and make them well before I get complicated. I also got a book on quilting. Now, this is something that's been interesting me since I was little and, I think there's going to be a quilting challenge going on this summer...me against me...lol!

Soooo, I guess that since I need to find things to do with my hands, I'll be knitting waaay more and posting much more as well...so I guess you'll read me later...

Happy Knitting!
