I made it to 100!

I finished the Man Hat today! It's really nice, and it ended up being a One Skein Wonder...So now, I've got some extra Noro lying around just waiting for me to make something pretty and Noro-like with it! I had gotten some Cash Iroha to make myself a hat, but since the knitting olympics are just around the corner, I think I'm not going to cast on anything new, I'm finally going to get some UFO's un-UFO'd and turned into FO's...riiight! Other than that...Everything is good with me, I'm a bit sad because there is a kitten looking for a home, so if anyone from montreal wants a baby kitty, contact me by email or through the blog.

Oh yes, there are these killer jerseys for team Canada for olympic knitters that are for sale but I'm not sure my budget will allow it...*shedding a tear!*

Anyhow, here's the kitty picture to give all you would be cat adopters out there some inscentive...

I know, she's so freaking cute it hurts...oh well...if none of you take her, I may have to do it... :-)

Happy knitting!

Playing Catch-Up!

Anyhow, I've got some catching up to do and when would be a better moment than now, while I'm watching A Walk To Remember (aka world cheesiest chick-flick). So the past week has been full of events, nothing major just a packed week. School is getting more and more intense but it still remains amazing! I had my first african dance class at the schools sports center. I took the class with some buddies because we wanted to find something that would help us release stress and still allow us to be as crazy as we usually are so...african dance class. Who would've known how much fun it would be. Then yesterday, at work, we played floorball which is the next great canadian sport! It's like ball-hockey but not as violent and with a ton more running and stickhandling but without the constant pummelling of opponents. Then last night, a friend and I decided that we wanted to play some badminton...but did we look stupid but we had the best fucking time! So today, I have time to blog mostly because my muscles are bloody sore. So i've decided that all I'm doing today is knitting The Mans new hat (the same one that Caroline made for her Man) and watching bad movies on TV. It's cool, I think I deserve it.

On another note, I can't wait to start the knitting olympics, my fingers are aching to knit up the sweater...I have to find a way to post a pic of it cause I really like it. For the math, the nice owner of my LYS is going to help me figure it out (thank christ!) so that I can stop wanting to injure myself or my calculator. I must say though, that I'm surprised that there are so few montreal knitters that are doing the olympics, so far as I know, we're 4, and I've been checking out the KAL
. So if there are any Montreal knitters that want to do the pub thing, or something for the opening ceremonies, let's do it, I'm game!

So I'll try to take a pic of the hat in progress and who knows maybe there'll be some sort of opening ceremony plans a-brewin'!

Happy knitting!

Yaay me!

Image hosting by Photobucket

I'm now officially doing this Olympic thing, Team Canada! Go team go! There's mention on Kelly's blog about a team Canada pub night, any montrealers up to it, I know the perfect place in NDG that's quite knitter friendly...if there are any takers, you can post in the comments section or by email.

I hate math

I've spent the better part of the afternoon trying to figure out how many sts to cast on for my Olympic sweater...*angry face* It's just the armholes that are bugging the hell out of me and I don't know what to do anymore...*sob* LOL! Alright, well I'm snubbing the sweater for the night, back to the socks!

ch-ch-ch-ch-changes!

Lol, the only thing that's changed is my dentition (is that a word in english?) I got a wisdom tooth pulled yesterday morning. Holy crap was that an experience. It hurt like a bitch but I'm better now! It allowed me to get some knitting done since I was forbiden to go to school and to go anywhere smoky. I got some of The Man's socks done as well as some of the platypus. It's looking nice although it'll never end, I swear! Anyhow, it's not pressing, it'll probably done in time for summer...lol! I'm getting ready for the knitting Olympics. Can't wait, I like the idea of making an entire sweater in 2 weeks, it'll get me going to see people's progress, I want that gold medal!!!!! I've swatched the pattern repeat to make sure that I like it and I do!!!! I just have to figure out the math part now...That's about it, I think...Oh yes, I saw Memoirs of a Geisha. I didn't like it, well no, that's not true, I didn't like Zhang Ziyi, she bothered me but not because The Man was drooling the whole movie but because she wasn't fierce. That's about all that I can say other than the fact that it's a visually stuning film...Ok, now I'm done!

Hehehehe, I'm so mean!

oooooooookay!

I've been flying under the radar lately due to a tooth infection which made me quite a bit crankier than I usually am. Soooooo here's what's been going on in my world.

Thank you sooo much to Nadine for the link to the pirate mittens, I think that I'll have to make them :-) I've gotten word from my new SP which is super cool and have checked out my SP's blog and I must say, I lucked out, this is going to be a fun edition! I also saw that there are going to be some knitting olympics (thanks again Nadine!) and I think that I'm going to try to get in on the action. It may be the perfect occasion to try concentrating on some knitting and who knows. I may even take on the über-challenge of making my first sweater, the lacy one from rebecca fall 2004. Now there seem to be about a zillion people in this so you know, I may just take on the challenge on my own! Yeah me!

Next, the socks. I'm socking it up these days, the pretty regia socks, which the man wants me to make for him...So yes, I'm still working on the green socks. I know they've been on the needles for a fucking long time but, I don't know, I think I just need to stretch my creativity muscle and make someting completly new. Now, for that, I've seen a couple things that are tickling my fancy but the numero uno thing is the hat that Caroline made for her man in Noro. The Man saw it and made a serious hint - ok, he said it flat out - that he wanted the hat. SO that may prompt me to go the my LYS today (maybe not, it's raining) and pick up a bit of yarn and who knows what'll happen out of it.

About the sweater, I know, I'm subject jumping...but the only thing is that it's sized for a skinny-bitch (I say it with love...really) with a 36' bust which I don't have and calls for some serious resizing BUT, it's a lace pattern...HELP! I'm calling out to all of youz cool knitting people out there for suggestions on how to resize and not just have ribbing, I'd like to have the pattern continue.

Finally - whew! - I want to thank my SP6 for sending me a last minute package with the movie "Living in Oblivion" which is one of the best movies that I've ever seen! I'm so fucking spoiled!

Alright, I'm done...For now!

Happy knitting!

Happy knitting!

Back to the real world...

The vacation has ended and so, I return to reality...Bah, it's cool...I started school yesterday, I have some kick ass classes this semester and look forewards to the madness. Shockingly, I have two, yes TWO acting classes which is quite unlike me but hey, it's a new year, I wanted to try something new! In the first one, we're putting on Outcry by Tenessee Williams and the other class is a Method acting class. I chose the latter because I'm always complaining about Strasberg and Stanislavski and the fact that acting is not therapy so, I figured I'd try it that way, I'd understand what I'm asking actors NOT to do. Did that last sentence make any sense? Didn't think so... I also have a playwritting class which is kick ass, my prof is super-motivating which is nice! On Thursday, I have my last first class which is History of theater from the 18th century onwards. I think this class' success will depend on the prof...So that's what's going on in my world right now!

In knitting news, I'm not feeling knittish right now so I'll save it for a moment where I can speak about the softness of Zarone at the great length it deserves...Until then...

Happy Knitting!

PS: I can't wait to get my SP match :-)

SP7 Questionnaire

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand?

I am a bit but only when it comes to natural fibers. It doesn't have to be super-duper fancy yarn, I just don't like acrylic unless it's combined in sock yarn!

2. Do you spin? Crochet?

Neither...yet...

3. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?

Um...storage...

4. How long have you been knitting? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?

I just celebrated my one year knitting anniversary. I consider myself an advanced beginner...

5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?

No, I don't, but that can be fixed...

6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)

Light floral scents like lillies, ocean something or anything light really!

7. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?

Does a zebra have stripes? I have a super sweet tooth! Favorite candy would be swedish berries and chocolate

8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?

I'm not good at much else really...I like to paint and take pictures

9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)

I like all music as long as it's not hick-ish country. I think MP3s are great and practical...

10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand?

I'm quite partial to classic colors, black, cream, reds and pinks. I can't do yellow to save my life BUT, it works for socks (hehehe)

11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?

I live with my sweetheart. Pet situation...I live with my sweetheart (muahhahahahahah!)

12. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?

Very much so cause it gets cold here except for ponchos, I don't see any reason to wear a poncho...

13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?

I'm a total Noro whore! I also love love love Arucania and anything bébé alpaca :-)

14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?

I can't do 100% Acrylic and Phentex, the squeeky sound when you knit them hurts my teeth (like nails on a chalk board)

15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?

Socks, but I'm starting to work on my first sweater...I also adore making scarves...

16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?

Socks because of the instant gratification :-)

17. What are you knitting right now?

Socks, Clapotis and mittens

18. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?

I do, I like to think that someone can take time to make something for me and enjoy it as much as I like making stuff for others :-)

19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles?

I like circs because they hurt my wrists less when knitting for long periods of time

20. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?

Bamboo!!!!!!!! although...I just bought some Addis and slowly...I'm converting...

21. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?

No I don't but I really need a ball winder...

22. How did you learn to knit?

The Man taught me how

23. How old is your oldest UFO?

Clapotis has been on the needles for a bit more than 6 months

24. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird?

It's a toss up between Sebastian in The Little Mermaid, Dory in Nemo and the cast of Winnie the Pooh!

25. What is your favorite holiday?

My birthday of course...

26. Is there anything that you collect?

Yarn...lol

27. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?

None!

28. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on?

Some Manos del Uruguay yarn but beggars can't be choosers, so I'm just happy to get something!

29. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?

Well, I'm having some issues with lace so I'd like to work on that and become good at it.

I am a sock knitter (hardcore!). I have ginormous feet (size 11, I usually CO 68sts on 2.75mm dpns)

31. When is your birthday? (mm/dd)

April 5th!

I think I can...

Last night, I went crazy-carpeting on Mount Royal with some friends. It was soooooo much fun, until we got injured. I smashed into 2 friends and now have a boot shaped bruise on my thigh...I know...sexy! Then, thanks to some moron somewhere who decided to make the biggest snoball ever, we crashed into an iceball. Note that it was inevitable since there is no stearing on a crazy carpet. My back, hip bones, shoulders and knees are soooo bruised. The pain, it stinks!

Anyhow...

In knitting news: I found the pattern, I think I found the yarn...here I go. I'm making my first sweater!!!!!!!!!!! It's from the fall/winter 2004 Rebecca. It's a lace pattern oversized sweater that I'm going to make in ZarOne Merino. I like it, I'll wear it, I'm making it! I also found some black baby alpaca so that I can finish Clapotis on a darrk note. I know, it's going to be 2-toned, I'm excited too! I also found some tasty Regia sock yarn that is going to make some nummylicious socks for me OR The Man (if he's nice!). Oh yes, I also treated myself (because I can...hehe) to a pair of Addi Turbo circs so that I can make my sweater.

Happy knitting and safe sliding :-)

Major technical advances...

Thanks to The Man's knowledge of all things computy-related, I now have a little link thingy (He's the computer know it all, not me) where all my FO's pics will be added!!!

Huzzah!

Photobucket

This is a test post from Photobucket.com

Blogging resolution

I know resolutions are made to be broken but I've made one...to post pics...I love seeing everyone elses blog where there's pics and stuff so, I'm working on adding a little link thingy (I'm so computer smart....) on the sidebar so that my FO's will be there for all to see :-) Btw, the striped socks are done (yaaaaaaaaaaaaay!), and the lesson I've learned from them is that stripes are nice, but weaving in ends at the end is hella long...Pic to come tomorrow. I've also decided not to do the Kiri shawl out of my AmiAmi lace weight yarn, I think i'm going to make Ella from Knitty.com - More on that tomorrow!

Happy Knitting!!

I'm ready!

Happy new year to all of youz out there in the blogging world (as well as to all innocent by-standers!). I hope that 2006 is an amazingly pleasant and happy year for you all. I hope that your hearts will always be full of love and your bellies full of tasties :-) As for myself, I think that this year may be the good one for me, I can now admit that 2005 sucked some major ass (in retrospect!) and all I hope for is that I never suffer another burn out so long as I breathe. Forr a change, I only made one resolution this year...to smile - and make a freakin' sweater!

On the knitting front, I hope that 2006 sees me being less freaked out at the idea of trying out stuff. I've got some felting yarn that Miss D. brought back from the USA for me so I think that fuzzy feet are coming soon! Anyhow, I've got another like...364 days to tell you all about my knitting...muahahahahahaha!

I have to get a pic of the red striped socks cause really, I'm very proud of them!

Alright well, I'll leave you guys on an elusive pic of me, the man and my bestest friends in the world from last night (or was it this morning?)

We are: Joey, Flo, Me, Kiki, Romy, and the stud in front is The Man

And here's a pic of the killer band that treated our eardrums all night, they are Good Time Charlie, please chaeck them out at the pub on Monkland, they're the best cover band I've ever heard!

Happy Knitting and most importantly,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
