I finally had time, this morning, to figure out all the measurements for my bébé camel mittens. I got the template from Knitty and it seems pretty simple. Last night, during the Grey Cup game (boo Eskimos!) I managed to get some of the platypus done. The green sock is at the foot and, to be honnest, I can't wait for it to be done. Other than that...There is no knitting progress...Now back to my evil term paper on the history of theater.

late night monopoly and 12 hours of sleep
Last night I played Monopoly with some buddies until 5 a.m., it was great fun and I almost won. But I didn't. Sometimes I forget how much fun board games can be...Any how, I woke up today...it was 5pm...and just knit a bit. So it's kinda noon-ish for me now even though it's 9 p.m. The green sock is almost done, Clapotis is comming along well, there's only the whole term paper thing that is preventing me from completing the Christmas knitting. I took some pics of some FO's (including the purple-ish socks modled by the man) that I'll try to post soon.

Anxiety
I had an anxiety attack or maybe it was a panic attack when I got home from the knitting thing. Now, I have absolutely no desire to sleep for fear that I will die...I had to get it out there...somewhere...so that I can now realise how dumb I sound. Oh my friends how I do not wish upon any of you the burden of stress-related axiety problems...On that note, I bid you goodnight...
Found out
My secret pal found out who I was...that kinda stinks...boo hoo! :( Anyhow, I'll try harder next time! Other than that...I guess that nothing is new...I'm still working on all my knitting projects...nothing seems to be moving along although I'm almost done with the 1st green sock...I kinda like the short row heel but I think I may have mucked it up a bit because it made this little gap in the heel kinda like between the thumb and the hand in mittens...I'll ask the ladies tonight...I swatched the bébé camel and it came out sooooooooooooooo nice! So making mittens is the mext thing up and, since it's starting to be freaking (it hasn't reached the other f-word level yet, but just you wait!) cold up here. The man is thoroughly enjoying his angora/wool mittens and keeps making fun of me cause I sould've made some for me instead...he's so sweet! So that's about it...have a knitting thing tonight with the ladies so that'll be fun!

Personnal post
It's been exactly 3 years today that my mom made a beautiful sacrifice by giving one of her kidneys to one she lovees above pretty much all others...my dad. I just wanted everyone to know that in our day and age, where most people think that love is an invention or doesn't exist at all, there are some people willing to go the whole nine yards for someone else. It's something that I really felt was worth sharing with the world because really, I'm proud of my parents and am gracious for the exceptional example they've set forrth on the matters of love and caring for one another in a couple...
That's all...
That's all...
Sock progress
So the green sock is moving along nicely, thanks to the Twisted Sisters Sock Knitting Book, I've discovered a new way of turning the heel (short rows...) and I like the way it looks. So there, maybe on wednesday I'll be able to show them off at the knitting thing. In other knitting news...I'M A SLOW KNITTER AND WILL NEVER BE FINISHED BEFORE CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to be done with school, it'll give me some extra time to knit like mad so that I can finish at least a few projects so that I may wrap them and put them under the tree. Speaking of trees, is anyone else starting to feel Christmas-y? Cause I've already started with the movies AND, yesterday, we were doing groceries (hurrah!) and I saw...wait for it...EGG NOG!!!!!!!!!!! So it's official, I can't wait until Christmas!

LOUD NOISES....
Ok, the title of my post is a rip-off from Anchorman (if you haven't seen it and enjoy dumb movies...see it!) but I really feel like Brick...I have no idea of whats going on. It's like things are happening and I'm just walking aimlessly letting things happen to me...To be honnest, I really hate that feeling. Anyhow, it'll get better with time and a bit of sleep!
On the knitting front, I'm on board of a lot of projects...I'm still trying to finish the Platypus, I have the green socks going, the blue cable scarf that needs a hat buddy AND my own baby camel mittens (tee-hee!). I splurged on myself. I wanted something supersoft for some mits and I was in a bit of a selfish mood so...I got me some baby camel :) I went to the national library, goodness is that place cool, and I took out a book on socks(spinning and dyeing roving and knitting them), it's made me want to try spinning...I also got a cheezy book of christmas stockings that I know I'll never EVER have time to knit, but one can dream. I also got a book about beading which is really neat! I guess I just need to do something creative to get my mind off of term papers which are looming over my head like damocles' sword...
Finally, on the theater front, I saw "Le traitement" at Espace Go. Please, run, don't walk to go see this play. It's directed by Claude Poissant and was written by an american playwright whose name eludes me right now. It's a visually stunning play with amazing AMAZING actors! I also saw "The Importance Of Being Earnest" at the Saidye Bronfman and it really exceeded all expectations that I had beforehand. It was sooooooo funny and oh so very well acted. I was really impressed and so was everyone there.
Okay that's all...FOR NOW!!!! muahahahahaha!

Insomnia and knitting progress
I suffered from insomnia for the first time in my life last night. Believe you me that it didn't make a happy little me in class this afternoon...oh well! The only good thing that came out of my inability to sleep is that I got a good bit of knitting done! The green socks are officially started, I can't wait to post a pic of them, I LOVE the colour. I also worked on the cabled scarf and the platypus and a bit of Kiri. Can you believe it, 4, FOUR projects going on simultaneously! I'm quite proud of myself. I managed to start the sock (the curse is lifted!) and managed to get about half of the leg done. As for my created scarf, well I got through another repeat so there...I think that I'll have enough to also make a cabled tuque (!) so I think I can smell my first X-Mas gift. I saw on Nadine's blog a link to a KAL for Holiday gifts...I think I'll hop on the bandwagon! Anyhow, I have a bunch of stuff to do before I can even start thinking about sleep...hopefully I'll get to enjoy some tonight!

We Will Never Forget...
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Thank you to all of you who have or do serve...I found a very interesting article about knitting during WWII, check it out...

The picking up of the platypus
I hate listening to the radio and not knowing all the songs so that I can sing along to them...ok...that came out of nowhere. I've given up on the green socks for now cause everytime I start them up, I muck up horribly so, I've picked up the platypus again! It's nice the alpaca yarn, it's superduper soft and cozy and it makes me feel extra good. I myself am not feeling so good. A combo of midterms, the beggining of some sort of virus, lots of stuff to do at work and then...oh yeah, my life...I've become this lifeless form that wobbles around town. I need some sort of relaxation outlet, other than knitting :) I'm thinking about yoga...I've tried the hot yoga and I liked it but it's hella expensive...has anyone who isn't a supermodel tried out regular yoga? If so, is it relaxing? Anyhow, I'm going to go do a few more rows of Clapotis...
happy knitting!
oh, right now i'm listening to: I've Had The Time Of My Life (yes the song from Dirty Dancing), I'm in quite the cheezy mood so it's only fair the music be of the 80's...hehehe!

Study break!

You're a young knitter, just starting out. Welcome
to the fold! Find yourself some nice soft yarn
and grab a latte- it takes a while to finish a
project but it's well worth it.
Are you a knitter?
brought to you by Quizilla
I got this from Nadine (I really need to learn how to add in links from a mac...) Not much knitting going on now...maybe tomorrow...maybe sleep...we'll see!

What I'm listening to now: One by U2 (one of the best songs of alllllllll time and, it's an acoustic version! I'm such a nerd...)

update
Went to Chapters with the man, no interesting new knitting books. We also went by the yarn store in Pte-Claire, it was cool, they have thrumming kits, and it looks fun but I don't know how much I could deal with having little boules of...thrum...sticking out of a mitten or a sock...well, we'll see. I made some more progress on the Nature Spun scarf, I guess that's what happens when you're sick and passed out on the couch on a monday morning. Maybe I'll post pics later.
Happy Knitting
BTW, I met Jennifer at the yarn place, finally saw her ring, or should I say ROCK...can we say WOWZA! Congrats Jen!

Congesetion
Ahoyhoy! It's quite esrly for me to post but bah, you take the time when you have it right? I'm really quite sick so I think I'll be spending my day in bed, knitting isn't even appealing to me, but that may also be because it's freaking 8.30am and because I can't breathe...I finished the socks this weekend, I'm pretty happy with the results. The only thing now is that I don't know whether to block them or not, and if I do how should I do it (---enter comments now...). They're the traditionnal wool/nylon blend. I bought some Nature Spun at Mouliné on friday night, started making a scarf with a pretty cable running through the middle. I'm hoping to reconcile with cables now that Karine has explained to me how to count rows in cables. This is my first creation, I swatched, counted, made a pattern...I'm quite proud...as long as it comes out okay!
Yesterday I worked the elections (geez that was long) and met a fellow knitter. She's actually a journalist who was crocheting during slow times. I spoke to her about our knitting things, she seemed happy. She also said that she was trying to write a local article about knitting in montreal...hmmm!
I'm completely pooped, off to take more tylenol I go then...off tobed for me!

Imagine
I haven't understood yet how to add links on my blog through mac so, the one i really want you guys to see is linked to the title of this post. The man and I heard this on CBC Radio French earlier this week and he found the link to it. I try not to get too political in my posts but this is...so touching and I really hope that other people will find it moving. Thank God for artists!
More on knitting later!
Happy knitting and pleasant listening.

The neverending sock story
Yesterday was the knitting thing, it was fun as always! I find it fun to meet new people, even when I don't necessarily realize that they are the creator of the platypus...(hanging my head in shame). I laughed about it afterwards. It was a nice and relax evening and people I don't see often were there (Caroline and Nathalie mostly) so that made me happy too. The sock is in it's final stages, I can't wait to bury my feet in these socks, they better be mighty comfy cause they took me a heck of a lot of time to make (Not the worlds fastest knitter). Other than that, well I'm not feeling great, think I caught something yucky like a morning flu or something...anyhow, I will try to rest as much as possible to be back to my whiny bloggy self asap.
Ooh, the man got a thingy that reads the card in his camera! Yaaay, I'll be able to start posting pics...for real this time!
Happy knitting!
