Wholy crap! I'm going to this Yarn Fest with the ladies from the knitting thing, and it's my first border crossing. We're leaving on saturday morning and I found out yesterday that my dear old passport is EXPIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!! What to do? I've just spent the past few days calling the border incessantly and the passport office. Seems that as a Canadian, I can go to the States with a valid ID...but which one??? If I could have filmed myself this afternoon, running around like a chicken with no head, it would have been hilarious I tell you! First I called the passport people, they can make a new passport in 24 hours only if it's an emergency (to me, yarn is an emergency but the guy seemed to think I was kidding...), then I talked to a nice lady at Canada Customs...come to think of it, she was as nice as a root canal but, she gave me the # to the US Customs. Now THEY are hard to get a hold of. I put on my nice sweet voice and asked the nice man what I could bring as ID. To the sound of him, I could bring a paper signed by my mom and it would work, he made me nervous...so when I pack later, I have to remeber to bring everything that I own that could stipulate that I'm Canadian, so far I think I'm up to like 9 pieces of ID...Who knows, this could become funny...Oh goodness I hope I don't get stranded at the border...EEK!!!!
On the knitting front, the first sock is officiallt finished, I'm going to focus on Calpotis a little cause it's been neglected due to my amazing(hum hum!) sock accomplishment :)
Happy Knitting...and wish me luck with the scary people at the border!!!!!!!!!

New baby syndrome
I haven't been knitting much because I have a new baby...yes I know it's terrible to neglect my yarn because of a new computer, but I guess I'm just a geek that way :) Other than that...well the Canadians won last night against the Leafs so that's nice...I'll post later anyhow because I got a great giftie package from my Secret Pal, so pics are in order. Just think really REALLY soft baby alpaca...mmmmmm...alpaca...

Last night I was lucky as heck to see an amazing play called "Bekkanko-Oni" (funny ogre). It's all in Japoneese but I understood the whole thing(i think) cause I was too close to read the subtitles which were all the way at the to of the stage. Anyhow, it was beautiful and well-acted and the music was amazing and did I mention it was beautiful! It made me want to learn about the culture and mostly about theater in Japan. I think there's a class at UQAM on Japaneese theater...anyhow...
Following my excursion, I went to the knitting thing at Second Cup and had some fun...as always! I must say that I was quite proud to show off THE sock but found out that I'd messed it up a little BUT, as my mom(hihi) always says, there are no mistakes, only elements that make it unique. She's quite wise that mom of mine...I wonder why it didn't pass through into my genes (I typed in "jeans"...I'm that silly today). Anyhow, the second sock will be different and the gusset decreases will be in the right place, or anyhow, I hope that they will be...
Happy knitting!

An amazing victory for meeeeeeeeeeeee!
Although the title of this "blog entry" sounds quite pretentious, do no think that I don't mean it :) I have accomplished what I used to think could never be accomplished...I MADE A SOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know, it's nothing huge, but to me, it was like a mountain in my knitting valley (hehehe) that I had to accomplish. So forgive my gloating but I'm freaking happy! Obviously, I can't wait to finish the second sock so that I may post an amazing (!) pic of me wearing socks ( I can hear you all cheering...lol). So that was my great news of the day!
Eventually, I will come around to take some pics of the other projects I've completed or that are still WIP's but I don't want to give anyone (!) false hopes so they'll be here eventually.
Tonight I'm going to see a play, I know it has nothing to do with knitting, but theater is my first love so I'll probably have tons to say about it later tonight or tomorow. The play is called "Bekkanko-Oni" and it's from Japan :)

Forgot to mention this
I was reading the blogs of my fellow Montreal knitters and I really wanted to write something about our knitting "things". I have yet to babble on and on about them, but really, they're quite enjoyable. It's funny how most people assume that in a knitting group all we do is talk about granny stuff, but really, who would've thought that we'd sit in a coffee shop, knit and talk about some guy and a frozen chicken (don't ask, I still don't believe it). It's a really nice time to just sit and laugh and shoot the shit about everything which I must say, everyone needs once in a while (in my case about once a week is good). So if by any chance there are any Montreal knitters reading this, grab your WIP's and come join us, it's soooooooo much fun and a superb way to learn more about knitting.

Bus knitting and other thoughts
I was on my way to school this morning, chilling on the 24 Sherbrooke, watching the scenery and being watched closely by my fellow communters...Oh yeah, I was knitting. I am still fascinated at the looks of shock/awe/confusion of people when they see someone knit on the bus. I thought it was funny, especially the little kid in front of me who seemed to want to touch some bébé alpaca for the first time. I wouldn't have minded if the kids hands weren't full of boogers...
In other news, I'm back at school which is crraaaaaaaaaaazy! I love it but it's keeping me busy and intelligent (me fail english, thats unpossible...)
